The Pharmacy department as an integral part of NSH provides a comprehensive range of services for both In-Patients, Out-Patients and as a drug information center. The pharmacy department works with the other staff of NSH to ensure that safe, effective medication is tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
Out-Patients Services:
The goal of the pharmacy is to provide our Out-Patients with the right medications, for the right patient, promptly. In addition to the filling and dispensing of medication to Out-Patients, patients are counseled usage instruction of drugs and other required information like food interaction, side effects, etc…
In-Patients Services:
When the patients are in the hospital or receiving care at NSH facility, pharmacy staff works with the physicians and nurses to ensure best care by providing their expertise in drug therapy and dosing. Pharmacist perform functions like making sure that all the drugs order are correct, properly dosed and (in order to provide a cost effective treatment of the drugs) the unit dose system of drug distribution is practiced.
Drug information:
The pharmacy department functions as a drug information center to provide information on all drug related matters, such as availability, dosage, side effects, drug interactions, intra venous drug administration, usage in pregnancy, during lactation, cost, etc… It also provides the required information to the entire medical, paramedical staff of the hospital and the patients. The pharmacy holds a range of resource materials relating to all aspects of drugs and drug therapy.
