The Continuous Medical Education (CME) program was introduced in 2007 and has now become a mandatory requirement for healthcare professionals. As of July 1,2010 medical professionals practicing in the UAE are required to prove that they have pursued a program of updating their knowledge and skills. These practitioners will need to show that they have obtained sufficient CME hours if they wish to renew their annual licenses or are if they are to be promoted to a position of higher responsibility. The required number of accredited hours varies from 20–40 dependent on the profession, with doctors and dentists needing to submit 30 CME hours, pharmacists 25 CME hours and nurses 20 CME hours.
Registration at health authority accredited lectures, courses and seminars will result in a specified number of CME hours being awarded. Attendance at such educational events means that health workers are constantly kept informed of the new developments in their respective fields and are equipped with the latest knowledge to provide the most up-to-date levels of care.
Neuro Spinal Hospital is committed to furthering the professional development of its staff, as this ensures that its patients receive the latest and most up-to-date treatment methods. Neuro Spinal Hospital offers CME sessions on a regular basis that are accredited by the Ministry of Health.
The organisation ensures that its medical personnel attend CME accredited events relevant to their sphere of practice and does much more than ensure they acquire the minimum CME hours in order to practice. Neuro Spinal Hospital is only too aware that knowledge is the bedrock for good medical care and to this end it, encourages its staff to attend as many educational and skill practice events as possible.
